Musically, Tourniquet's style is a mix of hardcore, hard rock, technical metal, speed metal, alternative and groove. They are able to blend all of these elements with melody and originality. Tourniquet even incorporates classical music into many of their guitar riffs. One can hear elements of Metallica, Anthrax, Hades, Whiplash, Watchtower and Shadows Fall in their music. The band consists of Ted Kirkpatrick (drums), Luke Easter (vocals) and Steve Andino (bass). For their 11th album, \"Where Moth And Rust Destroy\", Ted Kirkpatrick wrote all of the music, with Easter contributing lyrics on a few tracks. Kirkpatrick also played all of the rhythm guitar parts. Tourniquet even had Marty Friedman (Megadeth, Cacophony) and Bruce Franklin (Trouble, Supershine) provide all of the killer guitar solos. The album was produced by veteran Bill Metoyer and Kirkpatrick. Most of the songs on \"Where Moth And Rust Destroy\" can be classified as mini epics, averaging seven minutes in length. They are filled with exciting twists and breaks, containing a lot of variation ranging from fast thrash metal, mid-paced melodic sections to acoustic parts. Even a violin has been added to enhance the atmosphere. The songs are in no terms boring musically or lyrically. The musicianship is tight and the production is crystal clear. Kirkpatrick is an awesome drummer. You haven't heard drumming this technical since Neal Pert or Mike Portnoy. It's hard to believe that Easter does all of the vocals because he can sound like three different people. From soft singing and mid range vocals to hardcore like shouts. You can tell just by looking at the album cover that Where Moth and Rust Destroy is metal and nothing less. Tourniquet delivers an hour of solid metal. It's not death metal or metalcore, but thrash metal, reminiscent of Megadeth or Metallica. The Megadeth comparison is quite accurate, too, since the former guitarist of Megadeth(Marty Friedman) joined Tourniquet as a guest to add his guitar skills. These guys have been around for decades now, so fans that have not already experienced Tourniquet, but enjoy the less scream and growl oriented metal, should be sure to check this out. Then as you might expect from their Megadeth influences, the music switches to eighties thrash and metal. Some of the lyrics are a bit clunky, but when you are not writing in your native language this will always be a challenge. So it took me some time before I realised that \"Schmertzgarten\" is about the Jewish holocaust. The rock ballad \"Never Alone\" has additional female vocals from Mariangela Scafati. Then they do a cover version of \"In My Darkest Hour\" by Megadeth. The album closes with doomy Black Sabbath-esque riffing.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eAs Egi says \"We recorded \"The World Hates Me\" just for personal gratification and without any clue that one day it would be released by not one, but two labels (first edition with Quam Libet Records and the re-issue with Retroactive). Personally I was trying to catch in music what was happening in my new life, after having turn to Christian Faith. Jump For Joy was the first lyric I wrote, and it describes the incredible changes that meeting the Truth in person can bring to our lives. In particular, the verses: \"Rebellion grew for all these years\/ feedin' my own imprisonment\/ Today I fall down in tears\/ 'cause this slavery came to its end\". Apart from this song, and three others that we previously recorded in a demo in 2003 (these are W:P:D, For What It's Worth and Deliver You Back To Hell), most of the lyrics were written directly in the recording studio, right during the mix, prior to record vocals\".\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eThere are eighties metal, speed metal, melodic rock ballads and thrash tracks all on here. The mixture of styles and influences means that this album doesn't flow as you would expect it to. He was well known as a human dynamo of an axeman, one who routinely wow?d audiences by combining in-concert acrobatics with the fact that he never missed a note! Brian had an amazing ability to use tapping techniques, (pioneered by Eddie Van Halen), in incendiary ways that had never been heard before in Christian rock. Gary Mann's bass style was heavily influenced by bassists Geddy Lee of Rush and Dave Hope of Kansas. Gary drove the band from beneath, his playing coupling beautifully with the powerhouse drumming of Kris Klingensmith. Kris emerged as a talented lyricist, writing the words to nearly all of the band's songs on the last three albums as well as the notable words on the back cover of the Little Foxes album. In 1973 when the Oak Ridge Boys were beginning to make their transition from gospel to country, The Singing Americans were signed by the prestigious Lou Wills Hildreth Agency in Nashville. In an article announcing the signing, The Singing News predicted that based on their sound and popularity, that The Singing Americans would take the Oak Ridge Boys spot as the number one quartet in gospel music. Unfortunately, their owner, Homer Wadford had a different sound in mind, and wanted to see the group move in a different direction stylistically. In 1980, the group was sold to Charles Burke, who later went on to own the Kingsmen Quartet name for a few years, and obtained all new personnel with Mark Flaker singing tenor, Charles Surratt singing baritone, Ed Crawford singing Lead, and Charles Burke's son, Dwayne, singing bass. Mark Flaker left later that year and was replaced by Danny Funderburk. Ed Crwaford left and was replaced by Michael English, who would leave for a couple years and be replaced by Ivan Parker, and then Clayton Inman. Also, in 1982, Surrat would leave and be replaced by Southern Gospel legend, Ed Hill. When Michael English left for the second time in 1985, he was replaced again by Clayton Inman, who would replace Hill in 1987 in the baritone spot, leaving the lead open for Scott Whitener. The 1990s started a decline in the popularity of the Singing Americans, but it did not mean they still weren't capable of producing popular singers. David Sutton and Taylor Barnes passed through the group during this time. Finally, in 1993, the Singing Americans produced their final album, \"Live from Chicago\", before retiring in 1994.
