100% Proof were a band from Stockport, Manchester that formed in 1978 under the name “Thin Ice”. Charlie Wilson also played in the band Force 3.
"100% Proof" took the Christian rock scene by storm when playing live in the UK. Formed in 1978 in Stockport under the name Thin Ice, they eventually changed to "100% Proof" in 1979. They later released a 4 track single called New Way of Livin' presenting their ROCKier side . The first full Album was released in 1981 simply called 100% Proof . Their second and last Album was released in 1983 called The Power and The Glory. The era they appeared in, was forming new styles and these guys were among the first to bring about the NWOBHM scene. And although they're largely categorized as NWOBHM representatives, they do carry an AC/DCish feel... but never deny their roots, transending us back to the very roots of METAL which are none other than good old BLUES and punchy ROCK n' ROLL. And this is where they can be compared to STATUS QUO or other Headbangin'/Boogie Bands.
The Band's original name was "Thin Ice". They did quite a few hall gigs and even recorded a single, a cover version of an older track called "Do You Wanna Dance", which had later become a chart success for Cliff Richard.
