Despite the anti-metal sentiments, Barren Cross defied all odds and put out an epic classic metal\/hard rock album on Rugged Records. That label folded and the album went out of print almost as soon as it was released. While their 80s albums were more polished power metal meets LA glam, \u003cem\u003eRattle Your Cage\u003c\/em\u003e has a production that is somewhat raw and stripped down. It's special to hear the band ripping full-throttle bluesy hard rock with an ever so slight 1970s throw back sound reminiscent of Die Happy and Badlands. Morse had just launched The Dixie Dregs, and would eventually go on to play with Kansas, Deep Purple, and Flying Colors as well. The album may have seemed even more aggressive to mainstream Christian rock fans at the time, but the band knew who their audience was, and it was increasingly not church folks. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e5 New Bonus Tracks\u003c\/strong\u003e (Also on DISC THREE) Five newer songs are included in this collection. “The Lord’s Prayer,” which features guitar work by both Morse and John Pickens of The Marshall Tucker Band, came to Cassels in a sort of vision and includes a 32-voice children’s choir. “The Father In Me” was written for Cassel’s daughter’s wedding. “Cry Of My Heart” brings back the old-school blues shuffle, “The Right Road” is a guitar explosion, and “He Be Coming Back” slows things down a bit, bringing in some of the older, B3-laced, psych-rock groove of Cassel’s roots. I had no real connection to John in anyway, or any common friends.  Later that day I literally got on his fan website and sent an email request to him to see if he would be interested in singing  either of the songs.  He did respond to me and said simply \"send me the songs\".   I sent them to him, he liked them, and actually called me and indicated he would be in Phoenix Arizona in February 2020.  We then hung out and got to know each other for the next two days while he was in town and went into my home studio and wrote and recorded a song that would eventually appear on his solo album called  \"We Will Be Fine\"  The pandemic hit about two weeks later and all of his concerts for the year had been canceled which opened up an opportunity to work on an album together, which that song \"City Of Grace\" appeared on the album that was eventually released in 2022   \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWithin that two-year period we wrote 11 songs together and the album titled \"The Amazing Grace\" was released in April 2022.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eA few months later I was working on my solo album when John called me and wanted to be a part of this album called \"Perfect Vision\".\u003c\/strong\u003e   It took me about two seconds to agree and we started recording all his vocal tracks on the new album.   I cannot tell you how great it has been to work with John on all of these songs.
