And, instead of blockbuster albums by established 80’s rockers, we were stuck with grunge/alternative taking over and giving us bands like Gin Blossoms, Spin Doctors, and Soul Asylum (booo!!!). Hard music fans needed HELP, and they needed it FAST! No one could have anticipated how much Generation’s Brutal Reality would strike a chord in the hearts of a generation of metal fans feeling alone, ignored, and left behind. It was modern. It was metal. It was abrasive, and it seemed like something that would come off a futuristic Blade Runner movie soundtrack! Generation Brutal Reality was birthed into existence in 1993 on Wonderland & Metal Blade Records. Fans were rendered speechless with a full album of pioneering and cutting edge heavy, technical industrial metal of the highest order; featuring the talents of Randy Kerkman (Mission of Mercy) and Bruce Franklin (of the epic, historic metal doomsters, TROUBLE). Elevating Brutal Reality is the uplifting and thought-provoking Christian themes in their lyrics, establishing the album as a certified agro-industrial classic recommended for fans of Ministry, NIN, Circle Of Dust and Chatterbox. Fans have been dreaming of the day when this cybernetic masterpiece could be heard on analog vinyl format. Most thought this day would never happen. Think again. Girder Records is offering this industrial metal classic as part of the Limited Run Vinyl series on 180 gram black wax. Almost 30 years later, the album sounds and feels as relevant as ever. Grab your copy now. His extremely dynamic vocal range and powerful delivery, combined with his ability to produce smartly constructed and lavishly mixed compositions, resulted in memorable music – music which certainly raised the quality meter to the highest levels within the Christian market at the time and simultaneously garnered credibility for Christian hard rock and melodic metal worldwide. Most critics would agree An Axe To Grind was his most diverse record to date when it was originally released in 1990 and the talents he employed were quite remarkable (Lanny Cordola along with new sensation Scott Van Zen on guitars, Chuck Wright on bass, Roger Mielke on keyboards and Ken Mary on drums – among others). Furthermore, many of the musical ideas and styles on Axe later showed up in some form or another on the legendary Big Bang album. In that regard, the songs here stand up well on their own merit – have held up well over time – and are therefore rightfully deserving of new life and a fresh listen as part of Girder Records Legends Of Rock series.

Featuring These Players

Ken Tamplin (Shout / Joshua / Magdallan) Vocals/Guitars
Scott Van Zen (FOX / ESPN / MTV / VH1) Guitars
Lanny Cordola (Giuffria / House of Lords / Magdallan) Guitars
Ken Mary (House of Lords / Chastain / Impellitteri) Drums
Chuck Wright (House of Lords / Quiet Riot) Bass
Joey Tafolla (Jag Panzer) Guitars
Mark St. John (Kiss / White Tiger) Guitars

Tracks

Side 1

Livin' For My Lord (4:54)

The Continuing Saga Of Screwtape & Wormwood (0:30)

Going All The Way (4:08)

Never Give Up (5:16)

Music Box (0:58)

Not Alone (3:51)

Goin' Home (5:27)

Bouree In E Minor (0:44)

Side 2

Straight Between The Eyes (4:17)

I Hear Cryin' (4:49)

Armageddon (1:03)

Holdin' On/The Chase (3:44)

Take 'Em Back (3:22)

Believin' (Is The Hardest Part) (4:21)

All The Things You Are (7:18)

Other Album Info

Produced by Ken Tamplin
Co-Produced by Lanny Cordola
Engineered by Roger Miekle & Ken Tamplin
Mixed by Dave Johnson
Recorded at Micronote Recording Studio, Pasadena, CA
Mixed at The Mixing Lab A, Garden Grove, CA
Keyboard Programming by Brian Fediriko & Roger Miekle
Cover Photography by Nigel Skeet
Make-up Artist: Cindy Skeet

2020 Limited Run Vinyl Notes
Liner Notes: Jonathan “Doc” Swank
Layout & Design: Scott Waters at NoLifeTilMetal

!!! Shout commanded immense and almost instant respect from the growing mainstream metal community the second THIS WON’T BE LONG hit the market. Very few bands even came close to touching this masterpiece. Shout focused its efforts on music quality, something that the Christian rock fans were really clamoring for. Too many bands of that era focused 90% on ministry and 10% on music. Shout had no interest living ministry behind, but new that the industry needed top quality musicianship. Because it is spectacular!!!

Jamie did everything right. He did not neglect those tried and true melodies and riffs that Guardian fans long for, but the rock music here definitely has a swampy, bluesy, hint of a back roads country feel to it. It very Nashville, yet unapologetic. Jamie's voice wrapped around jagged rock riffs and melodies with guitar, fiddle, banjo, and a world class producer (Guardian/LeeAnn Rimes), this is a class act, quality product from beginning to end. This Is Home showcases a whirlwind of musical maturity and growth for one of our favorite vocalists ever. Get ready to enjoy one of the top releases of 2019! Yes, it's that good and on vinyl it's only going to sound even better. But you better grab yours quick, because it's limited to just 250 copies of this very special splatter.

Now Go Watch These Videos... Well, I would describe it as very much full-on BLOODGOOD, mixing in some of the best of all previous releases. Metal lovers should be happier that, overall, this album would fall on the heavier side, but not so much on the faster-paced side of some older tracks. Production is top notch, making every instrument shine (and no, it does not hint of Stryper at all). The Thompson brothers are skilled professionals in both style and execution, and this is one more Bride album that shows exactly why this band is the single most prolific Christian hard rock band ever - period. No band does heavy riffs, screaming guitar solos, and belting vocals better than Bride. Dale sounds better than ever – his vocals right high up in the mix – and the venerable guitars of Troy cut through with conviction like it was 1990/1991 all over again. Brazilian, Aposan delivers a nice mix of speed and traditional classic hard rock/metal drumming, and Nenel’s bass rumble drives Bride’s rhythm as steady and prolific as it comes. Boldly committed to embracing the outcast, speaking unvarnished truth to power, kicking over cultural stones and sacred cows with prophetic abandon, and shining the light of love into even the darkest corners, the members of Resurrection Band were a complete anomaly in both the world of rock and roll and the emerging evangelical industrial complex of the modern church.

After two excellent records in the 70s that captured the lingering aesthetic of the counter-culture by melding elements of progressive and acid rock with heavy blues, Resurrection Band emerged into the 1980s with a fresh musical and missional perspective. While still doggedly committed to taking the radical words of Jesus seriously, the group had been living in “intentional community” long enough by then to have faced the fallenness of man head-on. That they chose to do so not in some utopian commune in the desert but in a blood-stained Chicago neighborhood known for gang violence, prostitution, homelessness, and drugs, forced their eyes to stay wide open. The musical result was a trilogy of albums that combines elements of 80s hard rock, new wave, and even punk into something truly unique. Call it urban hard rock, if you will, but these three albums, Colours, Mommy Don’t Love Daddy Anymore, and DMZ, saw the band truly come of age.

The biggest disappointment is that Ray Parra is not on this album as he and the band parted ways, however, the new vocalist Eli Prinsen fits Sacred Warrior very well. Prinsen is not a Parra sound-alike but he can hit all the high notes and is capable of all the same soaring power metal attack that Parra could give. The style is also surprisingly heavy for Sacred Warrior, who thankfully have not opted for a "modern rock" or nu-metal (alternative metal) sound that so many older bands have tried to attempt. No, this is the same progressive-tinged power metal style that Sacred Warrior is known for, and yet they're not trapped in the late 80's early 90's. This is a progression to the next level but true to their pedigree of power metal.

Therefore you can be rest assured that Tony's drum work is powerful, fast, and complex and that Bruce Swift still delivers the goods in heavy guitar riffs and blistering lead-work. Bruce seems to be hitting shred territory on a few of his solos. The band is also still committed to singing about God's word(which I am happy about). There are too few Christian metal bands that are this good anymore; (and in this style of metal). However even non-Christians should dig this as there is nothing overtly preachy about the lyrics, this is just great metal! Production quality is strong and certainly the best and loudest yet for Sacred Warrior. They even redo a couple of older tracks at the end of the album 'Day of the Lord' from the 1st album and 'Temples on Fire' from their 4th (Obsession). In closing, if you like good power metal in the style of early Queensryche, later Judas Priest, or Impelliterri than I highly recommend this awesome new addition to the Sacred Warrior discography. This album may very well put them on the map in today's metal scene!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2606/9196/products/SacredWarrior_Waiting_Vinyl_1_940x_2e2dd627-28b2-464b-a823-b8a279f088d6.jpg?v=1623890753
resurrection-band-dmz-limited-run-orange-swirl-vinyl-gatefold-jacket-band-poster-copy
Resurrection Band – DMZ (Limited Run Red Vinyl) Gatefold Jacket + Band Poster

Re-mastered Audiophile Pressing from Original Sources by Rob Colwell

Gatefold Jacket Design with Lyrics and Photos

Includes Part 3 Liner notes from JJT (True Tunes) a 3-Part Write-up across all 3 Records.

Carey, being the gifted evangelist he is, also interjected passionate "sermons" throughout. After the initial shock, the response was apparently positive enough for the band to take their brand of craziness to the clubs in town, (The band even sold out of the small run of t-shirts printed up just for that show).

For months prior to this event, Carey and Paul were spending their weekends talking to the kids who hung around the punk clubs, striking up conversations about God. With the success of the Labor Day concert, they decided to go into these same clubs as One Bad Pig, thus giving them some clout with the punk crowd. The early years were filled with extremes. Playing in clubs, the band found acceptance in terms of their music, but as a result of their upfront message, they found themselves the targets for insults, obscenities, spit, beer and bottles. In time the band also ventured into the church venue, but many times found just the opposite dynamic there. The message was well received, but the music style was given to much controversy. This juxtaposition the band found themselves in led to the title of their first independent recording "A Christian Banned." Nevertheless - armed with their new tunes "hot off the press" they headed back to Cornerstone Festival 1986, this time not as music fans joking about a fictional band, but to play a concert as the very real One Bad Pig. Seasoned with the experiences of the past year, the band gave a performance that created a buzz at the festival. Soon word of this crazy foursome that was making waves reached the ears of legend Billy Smiley of the famed band WhiteHeart. Billy produced young bands and the Q-Pek Band was scheduled to open for WhiteHeart, and the band was hoping he would like and produce the band. Billy was on the catwalk above the stage while the Q-Pek Band played below. Well, it turned out he didn't much care for the Q-Pek Band, but when I happened to mention that Paul also had another band called One Bad Pig, he said, "No kidding? I've heard of them. I've been wanting to meet them." So while Paul's band (including Phillip Owens) was still playing, the band’s manager got Carey out of the audience and dragged him up on the catwalk to meet Billy. I think Billy was a little surprised. Billy and the Pigs all got together the next day for lunch. That was pretty much the death of the Paul Q-Pek Band and a new chapter for One Bad Pig.

Limited to just 200 copies world-wide

First time on Fluorescent Green Vinyl (100 units)

First time on Fluorescent Pink Vinyl (100 units)

Audiophile Quality Vinyl

Full color printed inner sleeve with band pics and lyrics

Remastered for Vinyl by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound

One of the original releases on the famed PURE METAL RECORDS!

#72 on HM Magazine’s Top 100 Christian Rock Albums of All-Time

Produced by award-winning musician/producer Billy Smiley (WhiteHeart)

Oink!

ABOUT THE ALBUM

One Bad Pig started out as a novelty act that eventually transcended the limitations of their satirical orientation to achieve cult status as a legitimate band. Indeed, the group is quite possibly the most popular hard-punk act ever to arise within the Christian music scene. Although they became known as a “party band,” as famous for their stage antics as for their music, the group had a very serious focus on ministry. Smash was the band’s debut full-length album that released in 1989 on the most important record label of the 80’s to all Christian hard rock fans - Pure Metal Records! Produced by a young Billy Smiley of WhiteHeart fame - the band broke down all preconceived notions of what could be done with rock, punk, and metal - and it was all rolled up into one amazing, succulent spicy pork roll! And, while Motorhead and the Sex Pistols might have been promoting anarchy in the U.K., One Bad Pig branded their own live-in-concert chaos, with the song, “Smash” and its legendary chorus “Smash, smash, smash the guitar” being a staple hard rock anthem in any self-respecting hard rock and metal fan’s repertoire.
