Musically, Tourniquet's style is a mix of hardcore, hard rock, technical metal, speed metal, alternative and groove. They are able to blend all of these elements with melody and originality. Tourniquet even incorporates classical music into many of their guitar riffs. One can hear elements of Metallica, Anthrax, Hades, Whiplash, Watchtower and Shadows Fall in their music. The band consists of Ted Kirkpatrick (drums), Luke Easter (vocals) and Steve Andino (bass). For their 11th album, \"Where Moth And Rust Destroy\", Ted Kirkpatrick wrote all of the music, with Easter contributing lyrics on a few tracks. Kirkpatrick also played all of the rhythm guitar parts. Tourniquet even had Marty Friedman (Megadeth, Cacophony) and Bruce Franklin (Trouble, Supershine) provide all of the killer guitar solos. The album was produced by veteran Bill Metoyer and Kirkpatrick. Most of the songs on \"Where Moth And Rust Destroy\" can be classified as mini epics, averaging seven minutes in length. They are filled with exciting twists and breaks, containing a lot of variation ranging from fast thrash metal, mid-paced melodic sections to acoustic parts. Even a violin has been added to enhance the atmosphere. The songs are in no terms boring musically or lyrically. The musicianship is tight and the production is crystal clear. Kirkpatrick is an awesome drummer. You haven't heard drumming this technical since Neal Pert or Mike Portnoy. It's hard to believe that Easter does all of the vocals because he can sound like three different people. From soft singing and mid range vocals to hardcore like shouts. You can tell just by looking at the album cover that Where Moth and Rust Destroy is metal and nothing less. Tourniquet delivers an hour of solid metal. It's not death metal or metalcore, but thrash metal, reminiscent of Megadeth or Metallica. The Megadeth comparison is quite accurate, too, since the former guitarist of Megadeth(Marty Friedman) joined Tourniquet as a guest to add his guitar skills. These guys have been around for decades now, so fans that have not already experienced Tourniquet, but enjoy the less scream and growl oriented metal, should be sure to check this out. Then as you might expect from their Megadeth influences, the music switches to eighties thrash and metal. Some of the lyrics are a bit clunky, but when you are not writing in your native language this will always be a challenge. So it took me some time before I realised that \"Schmertzgarten\" is about the Jewish holocaust. The rock ballad \"Never Alone\" has additional female vocals from Mariangela Scafati. Then they do a cover version of \"In My Darkest Hour\" by Megadeth. The album closes with doomy Black Sabbath-esque riffing.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eAs Egi says \"We recorded \"The World Hates Me\" just for personal gratification and without any clue that one day it would be released by not one, but two labels (first edition with Quam Libet Records and the re-issue with Retroactive). Personally I was trying to catch in music what was happening in my new life, after having turn to Christian Faith. Jump For Joy was the first lyric I wrote, and it describes the incredible changes that meeting the Truth in person can bring to our lives. In particular, the verses: \"Rebellion grew for all these years\/ feedin' my own imprisonment\/ Today I fall down in tears\/ 'cause this slavery came to its end\". Apart from this song, and three others that we previously recorded in a demo in 2003 (these are W:P:D, For What It's Worth and Deliver You Back To Hell), most of the lyrics were written directly in the recording studio, right during the mix, prior to record vocals\".\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eThere are eighties metal, speed metal, melodic rock ballads and thrash tracks all on here. The mixture of styles and influences means that this album doesn't flow as you would expect it to. The clean sound production and excellent lyric booklet all show that attention has been taken to this release. The direction the band takes here is a modern groove metal sound interlaced with some techno loops for cool effect. Surprisingly, the basic Deliverance sound is intact – the clear progression from the last release Camelot In Smithereens, but with a decidedly heavier vibe. Some of the “alternative” feel to the last album can also be heard here, but this is metal and these songs are really heavy. Deliverance fans could not be more pleased by Jimmy’s comeback. The strong lyrical base he has given to so many of his songs are present here and the content reminds this listener of the Learn material. Jimmy continues to use the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003enewer vocal style, with some of those Bowie-like lows, but I think his voice sounds better than ever. Song length is a bit short, but it really makes this disc great to listen to in one sitting because the songs just flow nicely from one to the next. Consistent with the current trend in metal there are no guitar wailing solos here, which may disappoint some older fans. No indie mix here, these songs sound great, and album artwork is extremely cool as well. Unlike some of the Deliverance albums of past where there was always a song or \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003etwo that was an outlier, like “Horrendous Disc” from Stay Of Execution, or “Map” from River Disturbance and “Beauty And The Beast” from Camelot…, this album is consistently metal from start to finish. heavier material of Barren Cross but fused with the darker and more portentous metal to thrash leanings of early Bride releases Live To Die (1988) and Silence Is Madness (1989) .  Strong Deliverance influences are found as well, including technical metal elements similar to Stay Of Execution (1992) in addition to equal doses of old school thrash from the self-titled debut (1989) and Weapons Of Our Warfare (1990).  Rounding things out are periodic hints of majestic power metal not unlike Sacred muscle and projection filled backbone (with the falsettos to match), but when need calls she can also reach down for some courser, lower register angst.  It adds up to a performance I see appealing to those into fiery vocalists such as Nancy Jo Mann (Barnabas) and Christine Steel (Arsenal) in addition to the grittier flavorings of Lisa Faxon (Ransom) and Anji Cornette Make My Bed in Hell: 2 things, first, my 2nd top fav on the album, second, based on one of my favorite scripture passages Psalm 139. The Red Roof: I have to admit that this track had to grow on me, but it is the best track to display the unique Deliverance style, thrash-prog-classic metal mix. I am a huge thrash metal fan, so the thrashier side of the band appeals greatly to me. Primitive Rhythm Machine, their 1995 thrash metal release, is my favorite by the band. Post Momentary Affliction (1993) is arguably their best death metal album. As a bassist I do not believe that he has gotten enough credit. Mike Jelinic excelled on both rhythm and lead guitar. There are plenty of excellent guitar riffs to be heard throughout. He goes down as one of the best guitarists in the band’s long history. Jelinic and Percy also made exceptional contributions from a songwriting standpoint. Steve Rowe has always been the band’s main songwriter. He contributed he usual selection of Mortification songs. Jelinic and Percy wrote or cowrote five of the album’s ten songs. Having other songwriters in the band really helped to shake up the musical status quo. Steve Hindalong is one who can write about ordinary life and family without coming across sounding corny or overly sentimental. Highlights are the beautiful \"The Ocean\" which celebrates the Body of Christ and the renewing love of God, the rocking \"The Chicken\", which takes a brutally honest look at the problem of evil and suffering, the humorous look at relationships in \"Sled Dog\", the confessional \"If You're Listening\", and the rolicking love song \"Leprechaun\".
