My Daddy Can Whip Your Daddy" offers a great five track sampling of what the Southern heavy metal power house called Disciple has to offer. Each of the five tracks show off a different aspect of the band's sound, making the album good for long time metal fans or for those who are looking for just a taste of what folks are talking about.

I was surprised, in that the strong points of the album are not the classic hard metal tracks, but the more laid back songs in the middle of the set. The title track starts off with a great drum and bass line and belts it out fast and hard. Showing off the heavier element of the band, there are plenty of raw screaming vocals to fill the need. The band reminds us of their Southern roots with 'Pharisee', a rhythmic and heavy blues influences number.

The track that gets the repeats, though, is the laid back 'Fill My Shoes'. The guitar elements are still there, and combined with the down-tempo beat make a great emotional cry almost all of us can relate to, "I believe, help my unbelief". Coming right in at second winner on the album is 'Fill My Shoes'. Imagine the heaviest track from Souther Rock bands such as Black Crows or Third Day, raise the beat a notch, and you've got a great song. The CD wraps up with 'Easter Bunny', a track spoken more often than sung as it rails against the replacement of Jesus with the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause.
A good glimpse of a great band, the album offers a taste of good metal to tide you over for the main courses the band is renown for.
