"Jericho" Official Lyric Video

Straight On

Straight On, #97 on HM's TOP 100 CHRISTIAN ROCK ALBUMS OF ALL TIME and the second album by DeGarmo and Key, raised the bar for quality even higher. Eddie and Dana took part in its production, and established a tight knit band that gelled together like a well-oiled machine. On the opening track, “Jericho,” a classic rocker that features impeccable sound quality, we hear a band at the top of their game. On the catchy “Livin’ on the Edge of Dyin’,” Eddie is featured on lead vocals and this track hit #25 on the Christian radio charts. Flourishes of the progressive rock sound of their debut continue on “Bad Livin’,” but the band also mix in elements of gospel and soul on tracks like “I Never Knew You” and funkiness on the classic rocker “Long Distance Runner.” There’s even some Southern rock flavor blended in on “Let Me Help You Today.” This album helped establish DeGarmo and Key as musicians and songwriters of the highest order and is widely considered their masterpiece.

Great album, both sonically and artistically.
Girder is bringing back some of the best Christian artists music to both old and new fans. DeGarmo and Key were rock solid musicians and wrote songs with compelling lyrics. Hopefully Girder will re-release all their albums going forward.

D&K and Girder... A perfect fit!

This album is amazing. The mastering is equally amazing. The effort put into the experience from packaging to sound quality are mind blowing. That goes for all my purchases from Girder and limited run vinyl!

    D&K at their BEST

The DeGarmo & Key’s sophomore and best record. The production put a new standard on Christian Rock for 1980. The separation and the play of stereo combined with crisp and clear tones and defined bass sounds made Straight On a masterpiece. The industry was really starting to change at this point and D&K were helping make that happen. A band that finally had the progressive rock overtones of great musicianship with pop-rock sensibilities and respected production. In other words THIS ROCKS!
Dana Key’s voice is a combination of Michael McDonald and Mylon Lefevre and his guitar work is bluesy and tasteful, While Eddie Degarmo keeps us entertained with sweeping keyboard, synth and organ sounds
    .
The songs usually dealt with scripture and evangelism in the same way Petra or Sweet Comfort Band may have written them. Jericho, Long Distance Runner and Mary all have biblical principles that make you feel like you just had a small bible study on some random biblical passages.
This album still sounds fresh today which is difficult to say about a lot of Christian Music of the seventies. Great production, tasty songs and respected musicianship always put this album in a league of its own, far above any other Degarmo & Key effort of the future… The only complaint I have is it’s to short at just over 34 minutes. Girder's Re issue looks tremendouse and sounds incredible! You need this ear and eye candy as soon as possible!

Hard To Put Into Words What This Record Means To Me

I'm 55 and grew up in a pentecostal church with plenty of gospel and a healthy dose of rules and legalism. I fell in love with music in the late 70's as a teenager and especially pop and rock music. This caused a major struggle because the church wasn't quite ready for this music......but I was! The Straight On album was so important to me because it was incredible sounding rock and roll music with a powerful message. It was kind of like a bridge for me spiritually connecting my faith with my love of music. It will forever be one of my top 10 most beloved albums.
