On Fire!, originally released in 1988, is by far the heaviest of all Petra albums with the exception of Jekyll and Hyde.  A true hard rock masterpiece if there ever was one. On Fire! was nominated for a Grammy™ and won a Dove award for their music video. It was also the first album to include their new bassist, Ronnie Cates.  It was PETRA IN THEIR PRIME and deserving of all the awards bestowed on them by the critics and fans.  After This Means War dropped in 1987 with such success, no one would ever go on record saying that Petra would be able to top it. That thought would have been ludicrous.  But the band, engineers, and producers had other plans, forging an entirely new album that would go down as one of the band's all-time great albums, and for most, their absolute favorite.  As much as this album rocks, it also checks all the boxes for a spiritual warfare attack on the kingdom of darkness. Make no mistake about it, this is one album that is a threat to the enemy or anyone that thinks that Petra won't go down fighting. They were absolutely on fire (pun intended). It's a true representation of what a rock album should be. Just one listen and you'll quickly understand why Petra was everyone’s favorite Christian Rock band.

      Excellent with exceptions.

I've been buying Girder reissues and love pretty must most of the work done. This issue of On Fire! is 5 stars in most regards. Packaging and artwork are off the charts for these reissues. Packaging is 5+ stars for sure. Amazing attention to details. But packaging is only one aspect. This particular issue suffers from two things. First is the dynamic compression. It's definitely louder than the original CD (which I have). So it sounds louder than the original, but also does have more dynamic compression. Depends on what you like for your music, but being more of an audiophile, I just wish is wasn't as compressed as it is. Regardless, I would still give this issue a 4.9 star for the remaster. The one thing that gets me is the indexing of the songs on the CD. Two songs are indexed too early from previous tracks. The second track contains some of the first track (by 1 second) and so does track 7 (by a little over a second). This can be fixed by ripping the tracks and a fixing a CUE file. This isn't noticeable if you listen to the CD straight through. If however you pick certain tracks to listen to, you will find the indexing of the songs are not aligned to the true beginning of the song. For a CD that is reissued and costing almost $20 I would hope that there wouldn't be any issues here and should have been caught before pressing. For that reason I'm bumping it down one star - otherwise it's great.
