Girder Records Announces Ordained’s Power of Powers, Honoring the Legacy of Erik Nelson

The follow-up to Thunder Roars features Dale Thompson of Bride, Randy Swingle, and the late Erik Nelson, with guest guitarists Tiago James Du Souza and Troy Thompson.

WILMINGTON, NC — Girder Records announces Power of Powers, the forthcoming 12-track album from Ordained. Following the label’s 2025 release of Thunder Roars, the new recording brings together Randy Swingle, Bride vocalist Dale Thompson, and the late Erik Nelson for ’80s-influenced Christian hard rock and metal.

Drawing on influences including Bride, Quiet Riot, Krokus, AC/DC, The Rods, and RIOT, Power of Powers carries a message of faith within a traditional hard rock framework. Thompson supplies lead vocals, Swingle contributes rhythm and lead guitars and backing vocals, and Nelson contributes drums, bass, and lead guitar on “Fools Gold.”

Tiago James Du Souza, known for Perpetual Paranoia and Hand of Fire, plays lead guitar on 10 of the album’s 12 tracks. Bride guitarist Troy Thompson appears on “Bringing the Thunder” and “Cannon Balls.” Both guest guitarists contribute lead guitar to “Cannon Balls.”

The release holds particular significance following Nelson’s passing in August 2026 after a battle with cancer. Nelson co-produced the album with Swingle and recorded, mixed, and mastered it at Eclipse Studios in Normal, Illinois. His performances and studio work are integral to the recording, which preserves a lasting part of his musical legacy.

Additional engineering was provided by Rob Colwell. Greg Hays served as executive producer and created the cover design and concept, with layout and design by Scott Waters of NoLifeTilMetal.

Power of Powers will be available on CD at GirderMusic.com and streaming on all streaming platforms.
