The Cars – Panorama (Pre-Owned Vinyl) Elektra 1980

Product Description

Originally released in 1980, Panorama is the third studio album from The Cars and one of the band's most adventurous and distinctive recordings. Following the enormous success of their self-titled debut and Candy-O, The Cars took a darker, more experimental direction with Panorama, blending their signature new wave sound with synthesizer-driven arrangements, angular guitar riffs, and futuristic production. Featuring standout tracks including "Touch and Go," "Gimme Some Slack," "Don't Tell Me No," "Up and Down," and the atmospheric title track, the album showcases the remarkable songwriting of Ric Ocasek and the band's ability to push beyond conventional pop-rock boundaries.

Released on Elektra Records and produced by Roy Thomas Baker, Panorama features the classic lineup of Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson. The album reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the United States, further establishing The Cars as one of the defining bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. From the hypnotic rhythms of "Touch and Go" to the edgy intensity of "Gimme Some Slack," Panorama remains a fascinating and often underrated entry in the band's catalog. An essential addition to any Cars, new wave, power pop, synth-rock, or vintage vinyl collection.
