If you grew up in Church youth group like I did in the 80's you most likely weren't listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd.  The only connection you had as a teenager, was the Christian southern rock band Vision. Their first two albums came with a hype stickers that promoted Lynyrd Skynyrd members (Billy Powell and Leon Wilkenson). If you didn't grow up in a conservative church, you absolutely knew of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Songs like Free Bird and Sweet Home Alabama, were some of the most played songs of their time and still are in regular rotation nearly every place you go.

On Oct. 20, 1977, three members of the rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, were killed in a plane crash. His brother Johnny Van Zant, took over lead vocalist of Lynyrd Skynyrd after they re-unuited, and Donnie Van Zant, was the co-founder and vocalist of the rock band .38 Special. The two brothers formed Van Zant back in the 80's.

As a Christian there was nothing more we wanted than some real rockers to turn to Christ and jam for the king, rock for the rock and (insert your silly cliche' here). That's exactly what has happened here.  The Van Zant Brothers have put together a full-on Christian rock album that includes all their bad-assness and rock ability to worship the King of Kings on their newest album Always Look Up.  And Girder Music is proud to offer an exclusive vinyl version of this album.

Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001.

Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007.

Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-rock-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
