SFC's CHRIS COOPER / SUPER C (Sup the Chemist)
      #1 Christian Rapper of All-Time
      (Rapzilla)

If we’re all standing on the shoulders of giants, we are most definitely standing on the shoulders of Sup The Chemist of SFC (Soldiers For Christ). In addition to his own artistic contributions, of beats and rhymes, his blazing of trails helped to build an infrastructure and economy that all who are involved today continue to benefit from. He also continually introduced listeners to other artists, such as the Tunnel Rats and Gospel Gangstaz to name a few.

If Christian hip-hop were to attempt to pinpoint a founder, it may as well be Sup the Chemist. His unrivaled influence isn’t why he’s on the list, though. He is the whole package and was ahead of his time artistically.

      ABOUT THE ALBUM
Before Christian hip-hop found its mainstream voice, there was A Saved Man (In The Jungle)—a raw, fearless, and unapologetically bold statement that shattered expectations and kicked open the doors for a new wave of faith-fueled rap. Originally released in 1990 on BAI/Broken Records, this long out-of-print classic remains a pivotal moment in hip-hop history, merging street-level authenticity with an uncompromising message of redemption.

SFC (Soldiers for Christ) wasn’t just another rap act—they were pioneers. At a time when hip-hop barely had a foothold in the Christian music world, SFC stood alongside the likes of ETW and pre-Free at Last dc Talk, proving that rap had a place in faith-based music. Led by Chris Cooper—better known as Super C, later Soup the Chemist, and eventually Sup the Chemist—SFC brought a level of credibility unmatched by their contemporaries. With razor-sharp lyricism and beats that stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the best of the era, A Saved Man (In The Jungle) blended hardcore hip-hop with jazz and reggae influences, drawing inspiration from Public Enemy, N.W.A., and Ice Cube.

This groundbreaking album features guest MCs Dynamic Twins, M.C. Peace, and Poetic Lee, adding even more firepower to an already explosive record. The production, mixed and engineered by Gene Eugene (Adam Again/Lost Dogs), weaves in elements of funk, gospel, and comedy, with samples ranging from Saturday Night Live’s Church Lady to Adam Again’s signature grooves. The track "Can’t Wait" even nods to classic rock, incorporating Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Down on the Corner into its infectious hook.

Now, for the first time in decades, A Saved Man (In The Jungle) returns in a Legends Remastered CD edition, meticulously remastered by Rob Colwell. This 2025 Retroactive Records release is limited to just 300 copies and comes housed in a jewel case with a 12-page booklet featuring lyrics. With its iconic cover stylized to read both SAVED and SLAVED, this album continues to challenge, inspire, and move listeners.

Sup the Chemist once told CCM Magazine that his mission was to “reach drug sellers, club hoppers, and other people you wouldn’t find sitting down and listening to a church choir.” More than 30 years later, that mission still resonates. Whether you’re revisiting this classic or discovering it for the first time, A Saved Man (In The Jungle) demands to be heard—loud and unfiltered. Don’t sleep on this reissue, because once it’s gone, it’s gone. For fans of Public Enemy, N.W.A., Sup the Chemist, E.T.W., Ice Cube.

        • Cracked jewel cases
        • Vinyl blemishes or marks of any kind

How Insurance Works for Damaged Items

        • If a jewel case is cracked during shipping, your insurance will cover the cost of sending you a replacement case.
        • If you prefer a new, factory-sealed CD instead of a replacement case, you will need to ship the damaged product back to us at your own expense. Once we receive it, we will send you a new, sealed CD.
        • Please note that insurance does not cover the cost of return shipping.

        Insurance Costs:

        • $5.99 in the USA
        • $8.60 in Canada
