By the end of the 1980s, the Christian hard rock and AOR scene was on fire. Bands were pushing production quality, songwriting, and musicianship to new heights. But very few groups could blend technical excellence with radio-ready hooks the way Angelica did. While many bands went all in on the the glam-metal Sunset Strip sound, Angelica took a slightly different path. They aimed higher—toward melodic hard rock with maturity, big choruses, and world-class guitar work, more in line with bands like Dokken, Lynch Mob, Mr. Big, Keel, Whitelion. 

At the heart of Angelica was Dennis Cameron, the band’s founder, writer, and lead guitarist. To this day, Cameron is considered one of the most gifted guitar players in Christian rock history. His tone, phrasing, and melodic sensibility placed him among the greats—not just in Christian music, but in melodic hard rock as a whole. He was featured across the world but heavily in Japanese guitar player magazines. He didn’t just play fast. He played tastefully. Emotionally. 

What made this record truly special is that it didn’t just appeal to Christian audiences. It caught the attention of the secular rock world, who were impressed by the massive production quality and Dennis Cameron’s guitar mastery. At a time when “Christian bands” weren’t always taken seriously outside the scene, Angelica earned respect.
