If you're a fan of classic Kansas, Mastedon, soaring AOR melodies, and beautifully crafted progressive rock, this is an album you're going to want in your collection.
Following the release of Perfect Vision in 2024, Boxberger has returned with another outstanding collection of melodic rock featuring powerful guitars, rich keyboards, sophisticated arrangements, and the kind of memorable songwriting that made the previous album such a standout.
And for collectors, we've got something special. The first 300 CDs will include TWO EXCLUSIVE BONUS TRACKS, "Nevermore" and "The Answer," that will not be available on future pressings!
Frank Boxberger had this to say:
Working with John Elefante on this album was a true lesson in itself. I was inspired by the way he approacheseach song and brings out its very best—musically, melodically, and lyrically. I believe we’ve created an album thatspeaks to listeners and reminds them that they’re not alone—that they have a loving Creator who will never leavethem or forsake them.
The story behind Higher Vision actually began years before the release of Perfect Vision.
Frank Boxberger's musical relationship with John Elefante dates back to 2019, when Frank reached out to the former Kansas vocalist about singing on songs he had written. That initial contact developed into a musical partnership, eventually leading to Frank co-writing Elefante's 2022 solo album The Amazing Grace.
In October 2024, Girder Records released Perfect Vision, a phenomenal twelve-song collection of AOR, melodic hard rock, and progressive rock. Elefante provided lead vocals on six tracks, while Boxberger's songwriting and multi-instrumental talents helped bring the entire project together.
The album earned a 75% review from Angelic Warlord, with reviewer Andrew Rockwell recognizing Boxberger's strong songwriting and the musical chemistry between the two artists. Rockwell even encouraged the partnership to continue and we're happy to say that it has!
Higher Vision takes that musical relationship into its next chapter, delivering another collection of songs that combine classic melodic rock influences with progressive arrangements and powerful spiritual themes.
This album profoundly changed how I see the world. Instead of focusing only on earthly things, it reminds me tolook upward to the King and keep my heart set on the things to come.
JOHN ELEFANTE RETURNS ON SIX SONGS!
One of the biggest highlights of Higher Vision is the return of John Elefante.
Known for his incredible vocal performances with Kansas, Mastedon, and his solo recordings, Elefante remains one of the most recognizable voices in melodic rock.
His unmistakable tenor, powerful delivery, and ability to bring emotion to a melody make him the perfect partner for Boxberger's songwriting.
Elefante handles lead vocals on six tracks:
-
Gravity Alone
-
Dear Abbey
-
Final Road
-
Another Yesterday
-
In Plain View
-
The King
For longtime Kansas and Mastedon fans, these six performances alone make Higher Vision an exciting release.
WHO IS FRANK BOXBERGER?
If you're not familiar with Frank Boxberger, his background is fascinating.
Frank is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass guitar, Chapman Stick, and keyboards. He's also a talented songwriter and composer whose work includes creating music for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team.
His collaboration with John Elefante on The Amazing Grace is another major accomplishment, demonstrating his ability to write material for one of melodic rock's most respected vocalists.
But here's something you might not know.
Frank is also an engineer and inventor with 14 patents to his name, many of them related to music technology.
One of his most interesting inventions is the Earthboard, a magnetic-powered guitar effects pedal.
That combination of engineering expertise, musical knowledge, and creative imagination is part of what makes Frank's music so interesting. His songs feature carefully constructed arrangements, layered instrumentation, and an unmistakable appreciation for the progressive side of melodic rock.
WHAT DOES HIGHER VISION MEAN?
Like Perfect Vision, this new album carries a powerful spiritual message.
Frank describes the meaning behind the album this way:
"This Album is not about seeing the physical material and temporal things of this world, but actual clearly viewing the eternal perspective of the spiritual realm." — Frank Boxberger
The concept is inspired by Colossians 3:2, which encourages believers to set their minds on things above rather than earthly things.
It's a reminder that the temporary things of this world are not the ultimate reality and that our perspective should be shaped by what is eternal.
That message is woven into an album filled with memorable melodies, intricate musicianship, and the powerful AOR sound that fans have come to expect from Boxberger and Elefante.
