Originally released in 1983. If there was an album that might have influenced an entire Christian rock culture, look no further than Not of This World, the band’s 5th album.  By 1983, Petra was running on rocket fuel.  Not of This World proved to every creature on earth (and beyond) what a great rock album should sound like and while some Christian bands were content with using Christian cliches, Petra had more of an interest in providing hope.  It's no surprise looking back at why Petra reached an entire generation. They proved that you could have an album that rocked but also provided a message of hope, and none more powerful than their song “Grave Robber.”  Just take a moment and read these lyrics...

There's a step that we all take alone
An appointment we have with the great unknown

Like a vapor this life is just waiting to pass
Like the flowers that fade, like the withering grass

But life seems so long and death so complete

And the grave an impossible portion to cheat
But there's One who has been there and still lives to tell
There is One who has been through both heaven and hell

And the grave will come up empty-handed the day

Jesus will come and steal us away

Where is the sting, tell me where is the bite
When the grave robber comes like a thief in the night
Where is the victory, where is the prize
When the grave robber comes
And death finally dies

Petra - Not of This World will blow you away, and once again "Death will be swallowed in sweet victory."  Remastered from original sources with an 8-page booklet with lyrics in a jewel case. Also comes with a limited edition trading card.

I always thought this was a pretty clean sounding record, but I grabbed this latest remaster just in case, and was not disappointed.

Not of This World - Petra

This was a new purchase for me. I had not previously owned this Petra album. When it came out, I had moved on to Whiteheart, Rez Band, and Daniel Amos. With that said, I had heard some of the songs on NOTW through Petra's, "Petra Means Rock" cd. Stand outs on this cd/album are " Not By Sight" and "Blinded Eyes". It is awesome to have this now in a remastered version and crisp, clean, sound.

    My 2nd Favorite Petra Album

I really love this album, my 2nd favorite in the Petra catalog. The quality of the sound on this CD, as with the other Legends of Rock remasters for Petra, is absolutely audibly stellar. The clarity, depth of sound, balance, and fullness is miles better than I have heard on other past release versions I have of all of these albums. The artwork sleeve and info is great and the included card collectible is a nice addition. Great job on these remasters!

Everything I Hoped It Would Be

I first heard this album in 1983 at the age of 5. Thousands of albums later and nearly four decades of maturing, nothing has ever dethroned it as my favorite body of recorded music. It’s not exaggerating when I say I know every note of this synth rock masterpiece better than the back of my hand. This is the best I’ve ever heard it. The dynamic range has been compressed to give everything a fuller sound, and while I’m not usually a fan of that technique it was really necessary here. The original Star Song CD is so quiet you have to seriously crank the volume if listening with anything but headphones. This remaster is a massive improvement in just about every way. The album art has been meticulously cleaned up in high resolution. You get the front and back cover from the LP release featuring art on the back side as well. The booklet design is breathtaking. New art melds seamlessly with the old. Fonts match the original aesthetic. There’s so much attention to detail. Each page has a matte finish with the 80’s era logo subtly embossed in glossy finish. I’m loving this release so much. I have owned this album on cassette, CD and vinyl for many years but I am so glad I snagged this remaster. God bless Girder for treating these with such care and respect!
