Go-Go's – Beauty And The Beat (Pre-Owned Vinyl) I.R.S. Records 1981

Product Description

Originally released in 1981, Beauty and the Beat is the groundbreaking debut album from The Go-Go's and one of the most influential new wave and pop-rock recordings of the 1980s. Featuring the unforgettable hits "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got the Beat," along with fan favorites "How Much More," "Lust to Love," "This Town," and "Automatic," the album captures the infectious energy, irresistible melodies, and rebellious spirit that made The Go-Go's one of the decade's most celebrated bands. Blending punk-inspired attitude, jangling guitars, driving rhythms, and sparkling vocal harmonies, Beauty and the Beat helped define the sound of early-1980s American new wave.

Released on I.R.S. Records and produced by Richard Gottehrer and Rob Freeman, Beauty and the Beat features the classic lineup of Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Jane Wiedlin, Kathy Valentine, and Gina Schock. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned Double Platinum certification in the United States, establishing The Go-Go's as the first all-female rock band to top the American album chart while writing their own songs and playing their own instruments. From the instantly recognizable opening of "Our Lips Are Sealed" to the explosive energy of "We Got the Beat," this landmark release remains an essential addition to any Go-Go's, new wave, power pop, 1980s rock, or vintage vinyl collection.
